Alumni Volunteer Opportunities

Alumni are an important part of the University of Southern Indiana community.  We invite you to share your time and talents with your alma mater by engaging with USI and the Volunteer USI program.  For more information, or to sign up for one of these positions, please complete a Volunteer Profile or email VolunteerUSI@usi.edu.

Advocates for Higher Education
Alumni may volunteer as a USI advocate to inform members of the Indiana General Assembly or the Indiana Congressional Delegation of the University's achievements, needs, and priorities.

Alumni-in-Residence
Each college of the University selects a graduate to return to campus to share career and personal experience with students and faculty.

Alumni Volunteer Network
Alumni volunteers assist with university events such as Southern Hospitality Days, Campus Move-in Day, Parents & Families Weekend, and Alumni Association and Athletic events.  You may also work on a college or community event or project or serve on the Alumni Council. Click here for additional opportunities.

Career Resource Network

Sign up now to be a Career Mentor Volunteer.

Alumni Career Resource
Alumni may volunteer as career counselors to USI students. The Office of Career Services and Placement refers students to alumni who can answer their career questions.

Career Mentor Program
Twenty juniors or seniors network during spring semester with a graduate in their field of study. The activities for mentors and their students may include job shadowing, professional group meetings, introductions to other professionals in a career field, assistance with preparing resumes, and mock job interviews.

Day on the Job
Students spend a day with a professional selected from a list of alumni volunteers. Students gain valuable career information and expand their career networks by observing alumni on the job.

Of course, many benefits are intangible. As a USI alumnus, you have many opportunities to network with other professionals, increase your community involvement, and maintain friendships with former classmates.
