Core Curriculum Requirements
University Core Curriculum
An important goal of a University education is thoughtful study in a broad range of subjects beyond the major program of interest. At University of Southern Indiana, all students who pursue a bachelor’s degree complete the University Core Curriculum to achieve this goal. The University Core Curriculum consists of four categories: A) The Mind, B) The Self 3) The World, and D) Synthesis. Vincennes University Graduates and the Core
Students who have completed an associate degree from Vincennes University, including the VU general education requirements, will satisfy USI’s University Core Curriculum with additional courses beyond the minimum required for the VU degree. Except for Category D: Synthesis, all other courses may be completed with approved coursework from VU.
Associate of Arts (A.A.) graduates from Vincennes University must complete:
- 6 additional credit hours in Category C3: Science
- 3 credit hours in Category D: Synthesis
- the minimum of 50 hours of Core electives.
Associate of Science (A.S.) graduates from Vincennes University must complete:
- 4 additional credit hours in Category C3: Science
- 3 credit hours in Category C5: Global Communities
- 3 credit hours in Category D: Synthesis
- 10 credit hours distributed in:
- Category B1: Ethics
- B2: Arts
- C1: History
- C3: Science or C4: Western Culture
- and any additional Core electives to total 50 hours.
