Mapping a Drive for a PC
Once your access is approved to the USI web server, and you have web editing software installed on your computer, you will need to “map” your computer to your department folder on the web server. This allows the drive to appear along with the A:, C:, D:, O:, drives on your PC. This new drive will give you access to the web pages and directories in your department. You will only need to map to the server once for each folder.

To map a Network Drive in a PC:
  • Double click “My Computer”
  • Select “Tools” from the menu
  • Select “Map Network Drive…” from that drop down list
  • Select an available “Drive:” letter
  • Enter \\www\www_usi\yourfoldername in the “Folder:” text box.
(ie:   \\www\www_usi\president   for access to the President’s web pages)
  • Make sure the “Reconnect at login” box is checked
  • Click “Finish”
