Art for the Griffin Center

Griffin Center Rendering - West Side

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the University of Southern Indiana in 1965 and as part of the University of Southern Indiana Foundation’s Campaign USI: Elevating Excellence, a new meeting venue on campus is being built. The Griffin Center is named in honor of Robert E. Griffin and his family for their involvement on campus over many years and for their leadership gift to the campaign. The Griffin Center faces the University from the west side of Reflection Lake, providing magnificent views of the USI campus.

The University of Southern Indiana Foundation (USIF), in cooperation with the University of Southern Indiana (USI), seeks an artist or artist team to design, plan, create, fabricate, transport and install a work of public art on the exterior wall, right side facing of the entrance to the Griffin Center. The commission is open to all artists or artist teams authorized to work in the United States who also are USI art students, art alumni, art department faculty, and/or former art department faculty. The artist(s) budget for all expenses related to this project is a maximum of $50,000. The entire budget is being underwritten by a private gift from a generous donor through the University of Southern Indiana Foundation.

The deadline for submissions has been extended to November 23, 2015.
