Will Fall 2021 Commencement ceremonies be held?
Yes. The University of Southern Indiana will hold reduced capacity, in-person Commencement Exercises in the Screaming Eagles Arena on Saturday, December 18, 2021.
When will Fall 2021 Commencement ceremonies be held?
Romain College of Business and College of Liberal Arts, Saturday, December 18, 2021, 3 p.m.
Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education and College of Nursing and Health Professions, Saturday, December 18, 2021, 6 p.m.
Will my guests need tickets to participate?
Yes all guests will be required to have tickets to enter the Arena. Information on how to reserve guest tickets will be sent to your @eagles.usi.edu email account. The guest tickets will be electronic tickets, or may be printed, and will be required for admission at the door.
If one of your guests requires ADA, accessible seating, please make sure to select that option in the ticketing system. If accessible seating options do not appear available, please contact Megan Doyle at 812-464-1745 or email email@example.com, as we have ADA-accessible and companion seating sections on special reserve.
Graduates and guests will be required to follow safety protocols including wearing a face covering, practicing good hand hygiene and adequate physical distancing when entering and leaving the Arena.
May I register to participate and let another graduate have my guest tickets?
We know it is tempting to try to help a friend, but ask that you only register if you intend to walk in the Commencement ceremony. Your registration to participate in Commencement is tied to your student email address (@eagles.usi.edu), your assigned seat and the reading of your name in the ceremony.
How will guest ticketing work?
Your student email address (@eagles.usi.edu) will be used to select your guest seating. When ticketing opens, available seats will be on a first-come, first-served basis, like ticketing for a concert. Ticketed seats will be reserved from what is available at that moment in the Screaming Eagles Arena.
May I request to participate in a future ceremony?
Unfortunately, safety restrictions related to COVID-19 may limit the overall seating capacity in the Screaming Eagles Arena for some time to come, so it will not be possible to allow graduates to participate in future ceremonies.
Will the ceremony be available through livestream?
Yes, a livestream of each ceremony will be available at www.usi.edu/watch-commencement . Please inform friends and family who will be unable to join you in the Arena of your ceremony date and time and encourage them to watch you cross the stage on your special day. Virtual guests may set a reminder now to be notified when your ceremony is live.
How do I order regalia for Commencement?
Graduates can purchase regalia through the Campus Store. Order online to have your gown shipped directly to you or come in the store beginning October 25th. Orders placed in advance by phone or email can be picked up on the day of the ceremony. The phone number for the store is 812-464-1717.
How can I pick up my honors stole and tassel?
Students who are eligible for Commencement honors will be notified by letter from the Provost’s Office; the letter will indicate when stoles and tassels will be available. Honors stoles and tassels may be picked up from the Registrar’s Office (Orr Center 1075); please remember a photo ID is required.
How and when will I receive my diploma?
Upon the completion of academic requirements at the conclusion of the Fall 2021 semester, degrees will be awarded. Your diploma will be mailed to you if you have submitted a diploma mailing address. Please be sure to review your diploma mailing address and all other contact information by logging into myUSI, selecting self-service and then update/view personal information.
Students may also pick up their diplomas from the Registrar’s Office (Orr Center 1075); a photo ID is required to pick up a diploma. An email will be sent to your USI eagles email account notifying you when your diploma is ready.
How can I pick up my diploma cover?
You will receive a diploma cover during your Commencement Ceremony. If you choose not to participate in Commencement, a diploma cover may be picked up from the Registrar’s Office (Orr Center 1075); a photo ID is required to pick up your diploma cover. If you would like to plan your visit to campus, you may want to wait until your receive notification that your diploma is ready.
Can someone else pick up items for me (diploma, honors stole and tassel, or diploma cover)?
You may send a friend or family member to pick up items on your behalf. The Registrar’s Office will need your request submitted in writing. The request should include your name, student ID number, the name of the authorized individual, as well as a phone number in case we have questions and need to reach you. The authorized individual will need to bring a photo ID. Authorizations can be emailed to the Registrar's office.
Can my graduation items be mailed?
Your diploma will be mailed to you if you have submitted a diploma mailing address. At this time, the University is not mailing diploma covers and/or honors stoles and tassels.

How can I order transcripts?
Students request their transcript online by following the instructions found on the Registrar's website. There is a link for recent students who still have access to myUSI, and one for students who no longer have access to myUSI. Students can request their transcript either as a paper copy or an electronic (PDF) transcript. Transcript requests are typically processed within one to two business days of the completed order, providing the requester has no outstanding holds.
How do I resolve holds on my account so I can get my transcripts?
The University is not able to release transcripts for students with unmet financial obligations to the University. Please resolve any outstanding obligations or contact the Bursar’s Office (or call 812-464-1842) to inquire about a payment plan. An official transcript will also be withheld for Federal Direct Loan recipients who have failed to complete an exit counseling session with the Student Financial Assistance Office (or call 812-464-1767).
Masks or face coverings must be worn by all graduates and guests during Commencement Exercises, while in buildings on campus, and outside when physical distancing is not possible.
Campus offices are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Central Time.
