HEERF III Emergency Financial Aid Grants

Federal legislation that established and funded the American Rescue Plan has provided the University of Southern Indiana with funding for Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds (HEERF III) financial aid grants. The grants may be used for any component of the student’s cost of attendance or for emergency costs that arose due to coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, health care, mental health care or childcare.

The legislation requires institutions to prioritize grants to students with exceptional need, such as those who receive Pell Grants. Eligible recipients may receive a one-time award. The HEERF III application will be open for the summer and fall terms or until the funds are depleted. While not a requirement, we encourage students to complete the 2021-2022 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). If you have not filed the 2021-2022 FAFSA yet, you may file it at

Note: Because this is a one-time award, students who receive funding during the summer term(s) will not be eligible for a second disbursement during the fall term.

This application is for students attending fall 2021.
