Dental Ethics

This continuing education program will explore the ethical dilemmas faced by dental practitioners and the values involved in understanding and deliberating these dilemmas. Specifically, the core values of trust, responsibility and service will be discussed within a pluralistic framework derived from real-world case examples. Indiana statutes and Indiana administrative rules governing the licensure and practice of dentists and dental hygienists will also be presented.

Dental hygienists, dentists, dental assistants, and other interested health professionals

Course Schedule
8:30–9 a.m. Registration 

9–10:45 a.m. Dental Ethics

10:45–11 a.m. Break

11 a.m.–Legal Issues

Noon–12:15 p.m. Questions and Evaluation

In support of improving patient care, the University of Southern Indiana is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the health care team.
The University of Southern Indiana Center for Health Professions Lifelong Learning designates this activity for a maximum of 3.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.
Learners should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.


The University of Southern Indiana is an approved provider for CE credits by the Indiana Health
Professions Bureau and the Illinois Board of Dentistry and will provide 3 contact hours for this program.The program content meets the 2 hour ethics and professional responsibility continuing education requirements for the renewal of dentist and dental hygienist license in Indiana
