Focus on Healthcare 2020

COVID-19 Plan:  The COVID-19 pandemic situation will be monitored daily, as the University of Southern Indiana places safety as a priority.  If circumstances prevent the conference being offered as a live, in-person event, a virtual alternative will be arranged.  For up-to-date information, please log onto or call 812-461-5217.

Each year this one-day conference will alternate topics focusing on current healthcare issues relevant to healthcare professionals.

The 2020 conference will Focus on Vision.  The conference topics will include general vision considerations, acute and chronic vision issues, pharmacological considerations, managing life with vision loss from an OT perspective, connection between nutrition and vision, personal experience with vision loss and MORE!

This program will be of interest to physicians, physician assistants, nurses, pharmacists, psychologists, social workers, other health professionals and students.

The University of Southern Indiana continues to monitor the COVID-19 situation and is following recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control, the Indiana State Department of Health and local healthcare providers.  Any format changes to the conference, such as in-person limitations, transitioning to virtual or a hybrid, will be communicated as soon as we are aware.  Please email Kelley Collazo at with any questions or concerns.

Call for Poster Abstracts:
Deadline for submission: August 15, 2020

Call for Poster Abstracts submission guidelines: 

  • Background/significance of problem/issue/concern
  • Clinical statement
  • Performance Improvement/Quality Improvement/Intervention/Research Method
  • Findings
  • Discussion of results
  • Implications for health care professionals

 General Submission Guidelines for Poster Presenters:

  • Abstracts will be reviewed and selected through a blind review process.
  • The first author will be notified of acceptance by email at the end of August, 2020. Correspondence will only be sent to the first author listed.
  • All abstracts must be submitted by email.
  • Abstracts must be in English and free of grammatical errors.
  • All author Conflict of Interest Forms are to be submitted with the abstract.              
  • The abstract text must contain no more than 300 words. Subheadings are not included in the word count.
  • All poster presenters must register for the conference.
  • All poster presenters are responsible for their own travel, lodging, meals, and conference registration fees.
  • Poster presenters are responsible for providing their poster. All posters must be a self-standing, tri-fold and will be displayed on ½ of a standard 6 ft. table. The tri-fold must be no more than 3 ft wide when fully opened.
