Students who complete the BS in Health Informatics and Information Management program will obtain content and practice hours that may qualify them to apply for a variety of informatics certifications.
National Professional Certifications (including the bodies issuing the certification): Students successfully completing the BSHIIM program will be eligible to take the Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) exam offered by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and/or the Certification in Health Informatics & Health Information Management (CAHIMS = Certified Associate in Healthcare Information) offered by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS). Both certifications are the minimum requirement for employment in occupations that seek professional knowledge in healthcare information and management systems.
