Building Dementia-Friendly Communities

The 2018 Alzheimer’s Association Dementia Care Practice recommendations report that 60% of older adults with Alzheimer’s or other dementias reside in the community and 25% of these individuals live alone. This report offers person-centered care practice recommendations for medical management using non-pharmacological approaches and support building dementia-friendly communities. In this spirit, the USI GWEP provides Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders (ADRD) education for people living with dementia (PLWD) family caregivers, direct care providers, primary care health providers, physicians and/or residents, health professions students and USI faculty.
