Rob Millard-Mendez, MFA, Sculpture

Rob is an Associate Professor in the Department of Art. He teaches a number of different art courses, but his two mainstays are Design in Materials and Woodworking. Rob received an MFA in Sculpture from UMASS Dartmouth and a BFA in Art from UMASS Lowell. His work consists mainly of intricately constructed, conceptually rich objects fabricated mostly of wood. His sculptures are often layered with allusions and laced with darkly humorous elements. His works are meant to engage viewers visually and intellectually.

Rob has exhibited his work in over 370 shows in museums and galleries in 48 states. He has had several one-person exhibitions and he has received over 60 awards for his art and teaching. His sculptures are in over 50 private and public collections. Rob has been teaching at the college level since 1999 and he has been asked to present lectures about art to different audiences regularly. Rob's work has been featured in two LARK publications and it has been covered in Sculpture Magazine, American Craft Magazine, Craft Digest, and Art Calendar Magazine as well as in many other publications.
