The University of Southern Indiana is one of only three universities in the state with mass communication degree programs accredited by the Accrediting Council for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (ACEJMC).
Data for the ACEJMC accredited programs (journalism, public relations and advertising, and radio and television) is based on first-time, full-time, bachelor degree seeking freshmen who declared journalism, public relations and advertising, or radio and television as their major.
Students have the right and the obligation to make known any concerns or problems that they may encounter regarding the operation of the department and/or its compliance with ACEJMC accreditation rules. This includes the Liberal Arts Building and its facilities, department personnel, classrooms and equipment, and courses and expectations. Students may express their concerns to their academic adviser, their professors, or to Dr. J. Wayne Rinks, chair of the Communications Department.
The Communications Department is committed to promoting a safe and welcoming environment to all persons. We believe that our campus community is enriched and enlivened by the diversity of its individuals. We are dedicated to fostering a climate of respect, openness, and understanding, free of discrimination and harassment against any person on the basis of race, ethnicity, color, national origin, age, political beliefs, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion or veteran’s status.
