The 4th floor reading room was named for Ruth Mueller Kleymeyer, an ardent supporter of the University of Southern Indiana and an advocate for library excellence.

Mrs.  Kleymeyer (1913-2008) was an Evansville native and 1930 graduate of F. J. Reitz High School. A generous donor to the university for more than 30 years, she believed that "the library is the heart of the university." Her husband Clifford served on the USI Foundation Board, and their family's interest in the university has continued through the years. Kleymeyer had a keen interest in USI because it started out in the old Centennial School, which she had attended and where her mother had taught.

A bust of USI's first president Dr. David L. Rice, portraits of USI's succeeding presidents, and a replica of the Centennial School are showcased in this room.

This reading room is also designated as a quiet study area.
