What feeds your soul? Do you like to create art, write, or act? Maybe you’re going to be the next famous YouTuber or be in broadcast media. Students of all majors* who believe in creative expression are welcome to join this LLC. In addition to taking classes together, your LLC might host a poetry slam, go to USI theater performances, start a YouTube channel, or decorate USI’s sidewalks.
LLC Signature Experiences:
What will your LLC do? Will you have an improv comedy night? A poetry slam? Will you yarn-bomb the USI campus? Decorate the sidewalks with chalk murals? Will you make a pact to attend all the USI theatre events PLUS a whole bunch of community performances? Will you all sign up for NaNoWriMo and create novels during the month of November? Will you make pottery for USI's Empty Bowls event? THE SKY'S THE LIMIT and you'll get to decide!
Dr. Greg Blair and Dr. Monica O'Neil are the Co-Mentors for the Creative Expressions LLC!
Dr. Greg Blair: "Heya! My name is Dr. Greg Blair and I am an adjunct professor in the Art and Design Department at USI. Before coming to USI, I taught for 10 years at Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD. But that is not where my story began... I am originally from Red Deer, Alberta, Canada, eh! After a few years of attempting to be a punk rock drummer, I got a three art degrees and started teaching. I have presented and exhibited my artwork and research all over the USA and Canada, even in Europe a few times. I do a lot of art making, music making, reading, writing, and researching. My first book was published in 2018 and was titled Errant Bodies, Mobility, and Political Resistance. When I am not doing those other things, I enjoy spending time with my family (2 kids!), running, gardening, canning vegetables, traveling, dad jokes, chasing my dog around the backyard, and trying out new types of coffee to help me get going in the morning. I am so excited to be a part of the Creative Expressions LLC and to share my passion for creative expression!"
Dr. Monica O'Neil: "Hi! My name is Monica and I am an academic advisor in the College of Nursing and Health Professions. In addition to advising, I've also taught courses on gender studies, English composition, world literature, mythology, and Latin. I am fascinated by the art, philosophy, language, literature, and culture of the ancient world. When I'm not advising or teaching, I can be found spending time with my family, running, painting, sewing, or doing restoration projects on my house, which was built in 1890. I look forward to working with all of you!"
