2021-2022 Information

Emerging Leaders offers a group of first-year students the opportunity to develop leadership skills, make new friends, and contribute to the USI community. This program focuses on preparing individuals to succeed and contribute to USI as student leaders in subsequent years.

Emerging Leaders will hear from speakers, participate in workshops, learn about leadership opportunities, and participate in other events. Weekly sessions are on Mondays from 3 - 4:30 p.m. during the spring semester.

In addition, participants will attend the program retreat on a Saturday during the spring semester (January 22, 2022), and complete leadership and reflection activities to successfully graduate from the program in April.

Program Overview

Who Should Apply?

First-year students who:
-Are committed to getting involved on campus
-Want to meet other first-year students
-Desire to develop their leadership abilities

What to Expect?

Involvement includes:
-Attendance at the welcome event and fall social events (Time, date, and locations to be announced)
-Attendance at the spring retreat
-Participation at spring semester meetings Mondays from 3 – 4:30 p.m. starting January 10, 2022
-Complete leadership, team building, and reflection activities
-Participate in the Emerging Leaders Graduation Ceremony in April

-Development of skills to benefit you personally and professionally
