Dr. David L. Rice visitation and funeral information

Members of the USI community will have several opportunities to attend visitation and/or funeral services for Dr. David L. Rice, the University's founding and first president, on the USI campus.

Visitation for Dr. Rice, who died January 15 at the age of 90, will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, January 24 in Carter Hall. A prayer vigil led by the Reverend Father Bernard A. Lutz, a good friend of Dr. Rice who was a campus minister at the University for many years, will begin at 5 p.m. Family and friends will share memories of Dr. Rice during the vigil.

An additional hour-long visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 25, also in Carter Hall. Following the visitation, Dr. Rice's funeral service, officiated by the Reverend Michael P. Monahan, pastor of Old North United Methodist Church in Evansville, will begin at 2 p.m. in Carter Hall.

Additionally, USI students, faculty and staff should note that lots N, I and J (Bay 2) will be reserved on Friday and Saturday. All non-essential vehicles should be moved to other lots by 4:30 p.m. Thursday, January 23. ADA spaces will remain available.
