USI announces inaugural alumni travel experience with President and First Lady Bridges

Alumni Engagement and Volunteer USI is excited to announce its 2027 Alumni Travel Program destination: Italy. This marks the first alumni travel experience hosted by University of Southern Indiana President Steve Bridges '89 M'95 and First Lady Rosemary Bridges, offering alumni and friends a unique opportunity to explore one of the world's most beloved destinations alongside University leadership. The trip is set for June 1-10, 2027.

The guided travel experience will take participants on an unforgettable journey through Italy, from the historic piazzas of Rome to the iconic canals of Venice. Travelers will immerse themselves in Italy's rich history, art, culture and cuisine while enjoying the camaraderie of fellow Screaming Eagles and members of the USI community.

Highlights of the itinerary include visits to Rome, Florence and Venice, as well as opportunities to explore the scenic Tuscan and Umbrian countryside. Travelers will experience renowned landmarks, Renaissance masterpieces, historic hill towns, local culinary traditions and authentic cultural experiences throughout the tour. The itinerary also includes visits to the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, St. Peter's Basilica, Florence's celebrated artistic treasures and Venice's famed waterways.

"As the USI Alumni Travel Program continues to grow, we are thrilled to be joined by President and First Lady Bridges," said Maggie Carnahan, Director of Alumni Engagement and Volunteer USI. "This experience offers alumni an exceptional way to reconnect with the University while exploring one of the world's most captivating destinations."

The tour is open to alumni, friends of the University and members of the community. Travelers who reserve their space by December 2, 2026, will receive a $300 per-person booking discount.

An informational session for prospective travelers will be held at 5:30 p.m. June 25, 2026, in the Roeder Traditions Lounge, located in University Center East, on the USI campus. The session will also be available virtually and will provide details about the itinerary, accommodations, pricing and reservation process. To RSVP for the information session, email alumni@usi.edu or call 812-464-1924.
