Screaming Eagles Orientation

Here are some additional opportunities for you to learn more about campus and meet other students. 

Topic Specific Zoom Series
Throughout the summer on Thursdays at 6 p.m. CDT, you and your family can participate in topic-specific sessions via Zoom to learn more about specific areas of campus. These sessions will also have time allotted for questions from the participants.

Residential Experience/Dining on Campus
Session will cover on-campus housing options, move-in process, Living Learning Communities, on-campus dining and meal plans, and parking. 

June 10

Student Wellness
Session will cover the approach USI takes towards student wellness and will specifically cover the services of the Counseling Center, University Health Center, and the Recreation, Fitness and Wellness. 

June 17

Safety and Security
Session will cover the services we provide on-campus to keep our students safe. We will also cover Title IX.

July 1

Academic and Student Support Programs
All students need support in college. In this session we will cover what programs Academic Skills, Student Support Services, Honors, Disability Resources and the Multicultural Center provides to help students succeed in the classroom. 

July 8

College Finance
College finance can be confusing and this session will help answer all of those questions. You will hear in-depth information from Student Financial Assistance, Bursar's Office, and Student Financial Success Center. 

July 22

Technology and Books
All students will use both technology and books in college. This session will be about the technology support USI provides our students, including reviewing some of the technology students will use, and we will cover how and why to get your textbooks at the USI Campus Store. 

July 29

Campus Engagement
Come learn about the involvement and engagement opportunities available to students at USI. This session will provide an overview of organizations students can join and events and activities they can attend. Areas included are Student Development Programs, Religious Life, Housing and Residence Life, Multicultural Center, New Student and Transitional Programs, and Recreation, Fitness, and Wellness.

Fall Opening
Come find out all of the latest updates about fall semester. In addition, we will cover housing move-in and Welcome Week programming.

New Student Hangouts
These Zoom sessions are opportunities for you to hang out with other new and current students. This is a great way to get to know others and get your questions answered as you begin at USI. Join us for one or all of these. These sessions will be at 6 p.m. on the following dates:

Virtual Camp Eagle
Virtual Camp Eagle is a two-day (July 23-24) leadership program for incoming students to participate in team-building activities and educational sessions. Participants will learn USI's history and traditions while getting to know other new students. Registration is now open.

Online Resources
The orientation resource website includes videos and PDF documents that will be useful as you learn more about the various areas of campus. We will add additional videos throughout the summer. Make sure to check it out.
