Who Attends?

Virtual Camp Eagle is open to 60 incoming first-year students and transfer students who have less than 12 college credits. Participants will develop leadership skills and build friendships with other new students. Participants will create the foundation to continue their involvement in service, student activities, and student organizations once at USI.

Activities at Camp Eagle are led by USI staff and student leaders known as the Eagle Leaders.

When is Virtual Camp Eagle?

Virtual Camp Eagle starts Friday, July 23 from 6 - 9:30 pm CT and Saturday, July 24 from 9:30 am - 3:30 pm CT. Participants are asked to attend the entire time. Breaks will be provided throughout the program.

How is Camp Eagle different than Screaming Eagles Orientation?

Screaming Eagles Orientation is for all new students to attend to learn important information about academics and registering for classes, paying tuition/fees, and all of the services provided on campus. While we attempt to include information about the history, traditions, and involvement opportunities during orientation, there just isn't enough time to dive deep into those areas. This is where Camp Eagle comes in!

Above all, we encourage you attend because Virtual Camp Eagle is fun and an opportunity to dive into campus life at USI. You will meet current USI student leaders and staff who will help you plug into fun and enriching student activities and organizations. You will meet other incoming students who share these same desires to be a leader in college and start making connections with staff who are dedicated to helping you reach your full leadership potential.

Where is Virtual Camp Eagle?

Camp Eagle is usually held on the University of Southern Indiana's campus; however, this year we are moving to a virtual platform via Zoom. Once you register, you will be sent more information regarding the Zoom video conference and program.

What happens at Virtual Camp Eagle?

At Virtual Camp Eagle, students participate in interactive and challenging team-building activities, educational sessions, and opportunities to learn the history and traditions of the University of Southern Indiana. The program is sponsored by New Student and Transitional Programs, the office that coordinates the leadership programs for new students.

How much is Camp Eagle?

There is a $25 fee for Virtual Camp Eagle. This includes all the materials needed for camp activities, which will be mailed to each participant's house, and a t-shirt that will be provided at the Virtual Camp Eagle Meet-Up Event during Welcome Week in August. This fee is non-refundable.

How can I register?

Registration is easy. Click here.

What do I need to participate? What are the expectations?

All participants are asked to have a computer and reliable internet to access Zoom with audio and video capabilities with the ability to use breakout rooms.

Once registered and closer to the date of the program, participants will receive a program email regarding what they need to do to prepare for Virtual Camp Eagle. Participants will be asked to complete two brief online leadership assessments and to start thinking about the activities that will happen during Camp.
