Meet Our Orientation Leaders


Our Orientation Leaders care, support and help each-other on a daily basis. In the beginning they were strangers, but quickly became family. Orientation has been a part of USI's history for generations. We love continuing that tradition of making the best student leaders the face of USI. All our leaders are unique in their own way, but share the same passion for guiding new students throughout their first year of college. Below are the current Orientation Leaders that will help our future Class of 2027!

Abbie M. (She/Her) 

Sophomore Nursing Major from Carmi, IL

Alongside being an Orientation Leader, Abbie holds many positions in Gamma Phi Beta sorority, holds a job as a Patient Care Technician at Deaconess Hospital, and loves long walks on campus!

Adam S. (He/Him) 

Sophomore Visual Art Education K-12 Major from Concord, CA

By attending USI Adam has been able to grow out of his shell and make a multitude of friends around campus and involve himself in many leadership roles around the school. He loves to play volleyball, cook, explore nature and build computers. Adam can't go a day without listening to music and he loves the Marvel Universe and Elizabeth Olsen!

Ashlyn P. (She,Her)

Sophomore Pre-Dental Hygiene Major from Mount Carmel, IN 

Ashlyn participates in not just Orientation Leaders, she is also the New Member Mentor for Student Ambassador Organization on campus. Ashlyn also loves reading, painting, dancing, and going on hikes.

Allison M. 

Sophomore Pre-Pharmacy Major from Webster County, KY

I am a part of the honors program, and TLC, I also work at the housing and residence life office. I enjoy playing tennis or really any sports, hanging out with friends, and listening to music. I’ve been to Hawaii, I’m originally from Tennessee, and my favorite color is orange.

 

Annie T. 

Sophomore Pre-nursing Major from Evansville, IN

Hey everyone! I am going to be a sophomore in Pre-Nursing. This is my first year as an Orientation Leader and I couldn't be more excited to be a part of this awesome crew! I am also a Welcome Week leader for the new and upcoming school year. Outside of school, I was able to get the privilege to be involved in the Southern Indiana Riley Dance Marathon and meet some of my closest friends! In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with friends, reading, and spending time with my family. I'm super excited about this next school year and go Screagles!

Ashley R.

Sophomore Marketing Major from Bedford, IN

My name is Ashley Rubacha, and I am a sophomore here at USI. I am a marketing major, and I am from Bedford, Indiana. While being an orientation leader an orientation leader, I am a welcome week leader as well. I enjoy going to the gym, hanging out with friends, and taking vacations. I have been a cheerleader for 13 years and I was a cheerleader at USI last year. I am also a huge theatre lover, and have been in musicals since I was little, and my latest role was Sharpay Evans in High School Musical.

Sophomore Nursing Major from Evansville, IN

Welcome Week Leader, Southern Indiana Dance Marathon, loves going on walks and hanging out with friends.

Sophomore Biology & Spanish Major from Newburgh, IN

In addition to being an OL, I am a part of Student Ambassadors, the Pre-Professional Health club, and the Timmy Global Health club. I also help coach volleyball throughout the year. I love shopping and animals as well.

Brady R. 

Junior Nursing Major from Greencastle, IN

Besides being an Orientation Leader, Brady is a Student Ambassador, Welcome week leader, a member of the Southern Indiana Dance Marathon Executive Board. Aside from school, Brady also works part time as a student nurse intern at St. Vincent and enjoys spending time with friends or being outdoors.

Brylee B. 

Junior Biology Major from Bedford, IN 

Outside of being an OL, Brylee is the Vice President of Biology Club, a Student Ambassador, a Welcome Week Leader, and a member of the Pott College Student Advisory Board. Brylee enjoys playing intramural sports with her friends, binging tv shows, and crocheting in her free time.

Catalina B. (She/Her) 

Senior Sociology Major from Carmi, IN

Alongside being an OL, Catalina is a resident assistant and the Social Coordinator of PANAS Association and International Club. In her free time she enjoys reading, paddle boarding, playing guitar, and spending time with friends.

Senior Criminal Justice Major from Boonville, Indiana

Alongside being an OL, Chase is the Chief Financial Officer of SGA, treasurer of Criminal Justice Student Association, works at the Screaming Eagles Complex, also loves going to events on campus!

Chloe S.  

Junior Dental Hygiene Major from Cloverdale, IN

As well as being an OL, Chloe is the Vice President of Recruitment for Sigma Sigma Sigma, attends philanthropy events hosted by other chapters on campus, and enjoys reading and spending time with friends.

Danna S. (She/Her) 

Sophomore Public Relations Major from Crawfordsville, IN

Alongside being an OL, Danna is part of Student Ambassador, loves learning languages, and needs to learn how to ride a bike.

Sophomore Communication Studies Major from Mount Vernon, IL

Besides being an OL, I am the Service Coordinator for Delight Ministries, I am apart of Honors, Student Ambassadors, Campus Outreach, and I work at the Housing and Residence Life.

Freshman Criminal Justice Major from Evansville, IN

I am passionate about coffee and even work at Starbucks! I love my plants, being a dad to 16 of them. I value my friendships and am constantly making new ones.

Junior Political Science Major from Hutsonville, IL

Grace is a Liberal Arts Representative for Student Government Association, the Chair of Planning Committee for Feminist Majority Alliance, and is involved in Eagles in Action. She enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with friends in her free time.

Junior Marketing & Public Relations Major from Montgomery, IN

Alongside being an OL, Gracie is involved in the American Marketing Association, makes smoothies at Red Mango, and enjoys traveling and spending time with animals.

Sophomore Education Major from Newburgh, IN

Hey, I'm Hayden! I'm an Education Major with a minor in History. I like Star Wars and watching Chick flicks with my girlfriend.

Senior Diagnosis Medical Sonography Major from Haubstadt, IN

Hey everyone! My name is Jessica and I am in the diagnostic medical sonography program with a minor in psychology. This is my first year as an Orientation Leader but I have been a Welcome Week Leader multiple times and I am also a part of the Honor's Program and a Multicultural Leadership Scholar. When I'm not studying, I am either knitting, doing competitive dog agility with my American Lab Twilight, or working as a house cleaner. I am very passionate about USI, especially the College of Nursing and Health Professions, and I can't wait to meet you all!

 

Kyle E. 

Sophomore Mechanical Engineering Major from Evansville, IN

My name is Kyle and I am a mechanical engineering student at USI. I am a commuter but stay involved the best I can. I work as an Orientation Leader here at USI. Alongside that I am a member of the USI Bass Fishing team, and the solar splash race team. I spend a lot of time in the REC working out and having fun. I also spend a lot of time outdoors cutting grass and landscaping.

Sophomore Elementary Education Major from Madison, IN

Alongside being an OL, Lauren is a general member of the Activities Programing Board, as well as an avid reader and foodie.

Maggie V. (She/Her)

Sophomore Nursing Major from Owensboro, KY

Alongside being on OL, I am a member of honors and biology club. I am a student worker in Housing and Residence Life. I also enjoy being outside and spending time with friends and having multiple game nights.

Junior Nursing Major from Greencastle, IN

I am also a Resident assistant and a student ambassador. I am also serving on the exec board for the Southern Indiana Dance Marathon. Besides this I also participate in St. Vincent’s student nurse intern learning skills for my future career!

Sophomore Elementary Education Major from Loogootee, IN

Along with being an Orientation Leader, Olivia is also a Welcome Week Leader and a member of the University of Southern Indiana Chamber Choir on campus. Her hobbies include singing, hanging out with friends, hammocking when it's nice out, and cooking/baking. Some facts about Olivia include she grew up in Loogootee Indiana, she was involved in choir, theater, and tennis while in high school, iced coffee is one of her favorites, and she loves giving back to everyone around her. I can't wait to meet you all and help you prepare for your journey here at USI!

Junior Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education Major from Greene County, IN

Alongside being an OL, Reyna is a welcome week leader and works in the New Student and Transitional Programs office on campus. She also works as a YMCA before and after school counselor. In her free time, she loves shopping and being with friends.

Sophomore Biology Major from Fairland, IN

As well as being an orientation leader, Ryder is an RA, President of the American College of Healthcare Administrators, Vice-President of the Pre-Dental Club, and enjoys spending his time going fishing and spending his time outdoors.

Junior Elementary Education Major from Henderson,KY

Hey y'all! I'm back as an Orientation Leader and I could not be more excited to welcome more wonderful students to USI. Besides being an Orientation Leader, I am a graduate of the Camp Eagle and Emerging Leaders program. I am also involved in the Black Student Union, Women Unlocked, Designed By Grace Choir, Treasurer for Chi Alpha Worship Ministry, and I am a Resident Assistant. In my free time I love meeting new people, hanging out with my friends, reading, traveling, volunteering, watching movies, listening to music, and shopping. If you see me on campus (which is very likely) please feel free to say hi, wave, or smile! I can't wait to help welcome you all to USI.

Sophomore Pre-Diagnostic Medical Sonography Major from Eldorado, IL

Along with being an Orientation Leader, Sarah has taken to getting very involved on campus. She is currently serving as the Vice-President of the Honors Council as well as being an active member in multiple other clubs and organizations, and she will be an RA this upcoming school year. She loves being outside, reading, and taking naps whenever possible.

Sophomore Nursing Major from Princeton, IN

Spencer is a part time Mac cosmetic artist as well as a very big music person.

Junior Elementary Education Major from Monroe City, IN

Along with being an orientation leader, Susanna is a member of Honors and enjoys spending her time embroidering, reading, and sketching.

Junior Psychology Major from Owensboro, KY

Outside of being an OL, I am a welcome week leader, student ambassador, and a member of the International Honor Society in Psychology (Psi Chi). I love people, animals, traveling, and sports (Go Tar Heels!).

Tegan R. 

Senior Journalism & English Creative Writing Major from Fairfield, IL

Tegan has been a lifestyle writer for The Shield for the past two years and a member of Student Christian Fellowship for the past year. Her goal is to become a professional screenwriter after college. Besides writing, Tegan loves a variety of movies, music, and TV shows, spending time with friends, and sitting outside in the sun.

Senior Social Work Major from Ferdinand, IN

Hi, everyone! I am Thea and this is my third year as an Orientation Leader and my second year as a mentor. Along with being an Orientation Leader, I am the president of Active Minds, a club about mental health! Outside of school, I like to volunteer and get involved in the community, collect plants, paint, and go antique shopping! In the future, I plan to graduate from USI with my masters in social work and become a licensed clinical social worker specializing in substance abuse or become a family therapist. Then, hopefully writing my own book about my work to de-stigmatize mental health! Welcome to USI!

Sophomore Sociology & German Studies Major from Mt Carmel, IN

Timothy is the current Vice President of Administration of the Student Ambassador Organization, an Orientation Leader, and a Welcome Week Leader at USI. He has traveled with the USI choir to Ireland and plans to study in Germany.

 

Wanjiru T. (She/Her)

Junior Psychology Major from Cincinnati, OH

Apart from being an Orientation Leader, Wanjiru is the president for The National Society of Collegiate Scholars. She enjoys reading, playing Mario Kart, and baking in her free time, and you could probably catch her at the movie theater when she's not studying.

Sophomore Electrical Engineering Major from Indianapolis, IN

Hey Everyone! Alongside of being an OL, I am also a Welcome week leader! Here on campus I am involved in a few organizations being, Solar Splash, IEEE, and Society of Women Engineers! Additionally you can always find me at one of the many hammock spots here on campus with a book, or out exploring evansville with my friends!
