Welcome Week Virtual Programs

On-Campus Housing Move In | Monday, August 17 - Thursday, August 20 | 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

  • Residential students will sign up online for a 45-minute move in time slot for unloading and moving vehicles. Residential students will receive more information from Housing and Residence Life later this summer.
  • Residential students will receive their USI face covering at Move In check-in.
  • Living Learning Communities (LLC) students are encouraged to move in on Monday, August 17 and Tuesday, August 18 to allow for LLC orientation and activities.

Welcome Week Check-In Fair | Monday, August 17 - Thursday, August 20 | 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

  • All new students are invited to attend this fair to prepare for the fall semester. Campus departments will be available to handle University business as you prepare for the fall.
  • Commuter students may also check in on Friday, August 21-Sunday, August 23 at the University Center West Information Desk.
    • Friday, August 21 from 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m.
    • Saturday, August 22 and Sunday, August 23 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

Face Coverings

  • Face coverings are required on campus.
  • Residential students will receive their USI face covering at Housing Move In check-in.
  • Commuter students will receive their USI face covering at Welcome Week Check-In or they can pick up a face covering from 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday or Tuesday, August 23-24, at one of the five welcome tents located around campus.

Eagle Access Card (Student ID)

  • All new students receive a USI Student ID. This card is used for meal plans, Munch Money, Flex Money, and more.
  • Students need to bring a government-issued ID to get their Student ID.
  • Residential students can get their ID during the Welcome Week Check-In Fair following Move In.
  • Commuter students 
    • If you live locally, you may come to campus over the summer and get your ID. The ID office is open Monday thru Friday 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. this summer. The office is located on the lower level of UC West (near Chick-fil-A).
    • The ID Office will be set up in University Center East Room 2220 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday, August 17 thru Thursday, August 20 during the Welcome Week Check-In Fair to handle larger numbers of students. These are new student move-in dates, but we encourage commuter students to also come out.
    • The ID Office will also be open the following hours before classes begin:
      • Friday, August 21 from 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m.
      • Saturday, August 22 and Sunday, August 23 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

  • Don’t be late to your first college class! AMIGOs will assist you in finding classrooms for your fall semester classes.

Commuter and Transfer Student Community Meetings

  • Commuter and transfer students will have their community meetings virtually to meet other new students and learn about USI programs and services. If you are a commuter and transfer student, you can attend either a commuter or transfer meeting. More information will be emailed regarding meetings and Zoom links.

Evening Entertainment

  • Residential students are invited to participate in evening activities after they move in from Monday through Thursday evening.
  • All new students are invited to attend the Welcome Bash and Eagle Extravaganza on Friday and Saturday nights in the University Center and virtually.

Convocation, College Meetings and Lunch | Friday, August 21 | 10:30 am

  • Participate in Convocation, the official welcome and induction to USI for all new students. Then meet with your college, have lunch and learn how to get involved in your major.

Eagle Experience: Virtual Program | Saturday, August 21 | 3 pm

  • Get a jump-start on your college experience! Freshmen are required to participate in Eagle Experience. This will be a virtual panel discussion presented on the Saturday prior to classes. We will discuss campus values and expectations during a pandemic. More information will be emailed to all freshmen. 
  • Transfer students are encouraged to attend all events including the Eagle Experience activities but do not need to attend Eagle Experience: Virtual Program.

Student Program Updates 

  • Cultural Diversity Welcome Reception | Thursday, August 20 | 3:30 - 5 pm | The Multicultural Center hosts this unique virtual event to help participants build bridges and friendships in the USI community. Visit for registration information.
  • Class of 2024 Mosaic | Pictures due Monday, August 24 | We are asking all new students to submit a picture of themselves to be included in the Class of 2024 mosaic photo.
  • Meal Plans and Munch Money | Student meal plans start the week of Monday, August 17 for the fall semester. Students will be able to access food vendors once they arrive on campus. Munch Money will be available as well.
