21st Annual Spring Social Work Conference:
"The Changing Landscape of Social Work Practice"
Presented by the USI Social Work Department and the NASW Indiana Chapter. The annual spring conference is more than just an opportunity to earn CE hours – it is designed for alumni, practitioners, students, and others to meet or reconnect with former classmates and colleagues.
The theme, The Changing Landscape of Social Work Practice reflects the Importance of a practice-orientated approach in our work.
Keynote speaker Lisa Seif, MSW, LCSW, LCAC, CSAMS is a private psychotherapist, consultant, and educator. Since 1983, Lisa has devoted her time and passions to the prevention, intervention, and treatment to those suffering with addictive disorders, now called substance abuse disorders and co-occurring disorders by the DCM5, a diagnostic and statistical manual of mental health disorders.
During her presentation you will journey into the history and mystery of addiction treatment and the recovery process since the 1960’s. The presentation will include the effectiveness of mutual-help groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous; translate the implementations of evidence-based practice, addiction, and the criminal justice system along with treatment theories and the mechanisms of action; explore how to take personal and professional action in reducing stigma associated with addiction and mental health; assess recovery pathways for alcohol and drug problems across diverse populations; and take a fresh look at ethics to gain a moral and spiritual understanding and practice.
