The five keys to success when preparing for the Excel Certification Exam

To exceed in any test, you must use the right fundamentals. Microsoft Excel is a great tool for collecting, analyzing and presenting data. Maximize your results on the Microsoft Excel 2013 Certification exam by incorporating these five principles.

Follow the directions

If you are unsure of what is asked of you, how can you perform a task successfully? Ensure that you have a clear understanding on how you will be evaluated. If you are hesitant about a task, re-read the directions to know what is asked of you.

Speed and accuracy are paramount

Time can be your best friend or worst enemy. Create an established pace to work through each step.  Making the best use of your time will give you an advantage in completing the project.

Keyboard shortcuts make life easy

Multiple methods can be used to perform commands, so choose the method that works best for you. Keyboard shortcuts can save you time. My favorite is the “Undo” function: Ctrl + Z.

Appearance is key

The exam is graded on the appearance of all worksheets in the workbook. Charts and graphs tell the story behind the numbers. Try constructing colorful tables and charts to bring your numbers to life.

Practice! Practice! Practice!

Take the time to improve your skill sets. Have you ever heard of “practice makes perfect?” If you follow the previous suggestions, you should have no doubts in your abilities.
