Interesting info

Poison ivy is distinctive because its leaves come in threes.

But the plant can be confusing because it grows along the ground and it also climbs trees, sometimes on vines as thick as an arm.

Notice that some leaves are lobed or winged. The leaves may be shiny or dull.

You ought to know

Height: Less than 1'; climbing vine

Frequency: Dominant cover plant, especially in lower areas of the woods

Blooms: May; the small green and orange flowers are hard to find

Range: Everywhere in Indiana. Also from Nova Scotia to British Columbia and from Florida to Mexico.


Poison ivy produces tiny green flowers in the spring.
