USI STEM education programs receive grants from Commission for Higher Education

The University of Southern Indiana Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education has been awarded two grants by the Indiana Commission for Higher Education intended to recruit and train teachers in STEM subjects.

USI Trustees approve new Doctor of Occupational Therapy, Educational Specialist programs

The USI Board of Trustees approved an Educational Specialist (EdS) in Educational Leadership program offered through the Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education beginning in the Fall of 2022 Semester following approval from the Higher Learning Commission.

First Successful EdD Dissertation in Practice Defense at USI Completed 

Amber Hasenour Bolling has completed the first successful EdD Dissertation in Practice defense. The Doctor of Education program began in fall of 2018 with Amber being among the first cohort of students.

USI alumni among Evansville Rotary 20 Under 40 Class of 2021

Seven USI alumni including alumni from the Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education were among honorees celebrated at the Rotary Club of Evansville's 20 Under 40 luncheon. These individuals exhibit notable leadership while making an impact on the Evansville community. Dr. Xavia Harrington-Chate, Assistant Professor of Teacher Education, was also an honoree.

A USI Teacher Education's Teach Now program gives new teachers real classroom experience

USI is entering the sixth year of the Teach Now program, which is a partnership with Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation to give education majors the opportunity to get real classroom experience before their first year in their own classroom. Not only does the Teach Now program help USI students but it has provided high quality teachers to the EVSC schools in need.

Erika Maurer '16, MBA '18

Erika Maurer came to USI for the small school size, affordability, and because it was close to home. She left USI with the educational knowledge and tools to get her started in her professional career. Maurer has got to the place she is now by not giving up and using the relationships she has made from USI and on to pave her career path.


Grace Anders '19

Grace Anders looks back at her time at USI as what made her who she is today. The most important thing she learned during her time at USI is that people who show up consistently, try their best and are kind to others will always succeed. Anders will take this mindset with her as she finishes her last semester in occupational therapy at Indiana State.
