Coutee named honorable mention All-American by Street & Smith

University of Southern Indiana sophomore forward Dennis Coutee (Jeffersonville, Indiana) was named honorable mention preseason All-American by Street & Smithís College Basketball.

Coutee is entering his first season with the Screaming Eagles after playing last season for Riverside Community College in California. He averaged 19.8 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 2.4 assists in 37 games for the Tigers as a freshman.

The Jeffersonville, Indiana, native was third in the Orange Empire Conference in scoring, while his 33 points in a single game ranked fourth. Coutee also was named to the prestigious All-Orange Empire Conference team, leading RCC to a 28-9 overall record.

As a team, USI was listed as a break-out team in Division II.

New players join the squad during the fall
Roundtree will play this season Odon will play next year

The University of Southern Indiana menís basketball team announced the addition of two new players to join the program this fall.

Junior center Ronald Roundtree (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) transfers from Riverside Community College where he was a teammate of Dennis Coutee last season. Roundtree, who did not play basketball in high school, was named honorable mention All-Orange Empire Conference and ranked third on the team in scoring with 15.2 points and second in rebounding with 6.6 rebounds per contest as a sophomore. He will have two years of eligibility at USI.

Senior forward/center Jon Oden (Phoenix, Arizona) will have one season at USI, beginning in 2003-04, after transferring from DePaul University. He played seven games for DePaul in 2001-02, averaging 3.8 points and 1.8 rebounds.

Oden had a career-high seven points against the University of Cincinnati and six rebounds against the University of Alaska-Anchorage. He played in 26 games, in two seasons, with the Blue Devils, scoring 56 points (2.2 points per game) and grabbing 50 rebounds (1.9 rebounds per game).
