Givens named NABC All-Region
University of Southern Indiana menís basketball senior forward Diondíre Givens was named second-team Great Lakes All-Region by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).
Givens helped lead the Screaming Eagles to a 25-7 overall record and the championship game of the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional Tournament. He shot 52.5 percent from the floor and led the Eagles with 14.6 points per contest.
In the Great Lakes Regional Championship against Kentucky Wesleyan College, Givens recorded 13 points in the final 3 Ĺ minutes of the game to finish with a game and career-high 32 points. His effort helped the Eagles turn a 13-point deficit into a two-point deficit in less than four minutes.
Givens also was named second-team Daktronics All-Region and first-team All-Great Lakes Valley Conference in 2002-03.
The native of Mt. Vernon, Indiana, finished his career at USI ranked sixth all-time in career scoring (1,262) and rebounding (565). Givens also finished his career at USI in tie with former USI standout Ryan Kelley as the career leader in games played (123).
