#2 USI menís basketball hosts Illinois-Springfield on Saturday
The University of Southern Indiana menís basketball team will try to remain perfect in 2003-04 Saturday, December 13, when it hosts the University of Illinois-Springfield at the Physical Activities Center. Game time Saturday is 7 p.m.
The Screaming Eagles tipped off a seven-game homestand with an exciting 72-62 victory over Henderson State University Monday evening at the PAC. USI trailed for most of the contest and did not take control until 7:35 to play in the game.
Senior center John Oden (St. Louis, Missouri) had his best game since his return from a broken foot, recording 15 points and nine rebounds in the win.
For the season, junior center Randy Holbrook (St. Louis, Missouri) leads the Eagles in scoring with 15.0 ppg and is second with 6.7 rpg. Senior forward Billy Harris (Carbondale, Illinois), who is the teamís top rebounder with 7.4 rpg, and senior guard Joe Gordon (Palm Bay, Florida) follow Holbrook with 13.0 ppg apiece.
The Prairie Stars of Illinois-Springfield, under the direction of former Boston Celtic Kevin Gamble, is 6-3 in their second year of existence. UIS has won three of its last four since losing to Kentucky Wesleyan College, 89-69, back on November 24.
In 2003-04, the Prairie Stars are led by senior guards Zach May, who is averaging 16.4 ppg, and Lincoln James, who is posting 15.9 ppg. On the boards, senior forward/center Sheu Allibalogun is recording 6.1 rpg.
