USI remains perfect at home

EVANSVILLE, Ind. Ė The 24th-ranked University of Southern Indiana menís basketball team ran its home record to 11-0 at home in posting an 89-59 victory over Oakland City University Wednesday evening at the Physical Activities Center. USI goes to 14-4 overall, while OCU goes to 14-6.
In allowing OCU just 59 points, USI has held four straight opponents to 60 points or less for the first time in the history of the program.
The Screaming Eagles soared out of the gate in the first half, shooting over 70 percent from the field (12-17) for the first 13 minutes of the game and generating a 30-16 lead early. USI finished the first half shooting 64.3 percent from the field and took a 45-30 lead into the locker room at the intermission.
In the second half, USI continued to extend its lead to as many as 32 points, 69-37, with 11:01 to play in the game.
The Eagles had a very balanced offensive attack with two players in double figures and four players scoring nine points each. Senior guard Cris Brunson (Evansville, Indiana), who has scored in double figures in four straight games, led the Eagles with 16 points.
USI junior guard David Bryant (Louisville, Kentucky) posted more than 20 minutes of action for the first time since suffering a knee injury early in January. Bryant followed Brunson in the scoring column, recording 10 points in 23 minutes of action.
The Eagles resume GLVC action and complete the four-game homestand by hosting Kentucky Wesleyan College on January 29 at 7:30 p.m. The game can be heard live on WGBF AM1280 or seen live on Insight Cable 2.
