Thompson named first team All-Region by NABC
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana senior forward Chris Thompson was named first team All-Great Lakes Region by the National Association of Basketball Coaches. Thompson is the first player to receive first team honors from the NABC since Stan Gouard and Chad Gilbert in 1996.
Thompson, who will be playing for the West squad in the inaugural NCAA Division II/NABC All-Star game Friday evening, has been named to the NCAA Division II Great Lakes All-Tournament team, the Daktronics Great Lakes Region Player of the Year, Daktronics first team All-Region, co-GLVC Player of the Year, and first team All-GLVC. He was named Division II Bulletin Player of the Month twice, and GLVC Player of the Week four times during the regular season.
The Starke, Florida, native led the Screaming Eagles and ranks fourth in the GLVC with 18.3 points per game. He also grabbed a team and GLVC best 9.8 rebounds.
