Plummer transfers to USI
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men's basketball team announced that 6-foot-7 forward Norman Plummer (Cincinnati, Ohio) has accepted a scholarship to play for the Screaming Eagles in 2007-08. Plummer is transferring from the University of Dayton and will have one year of eligibility remaining at the collegiate level.
With the addition of Plummer, the Eagles have four new players for next season, including forwards Anthony Pimble (Bronx, New York) and Nate Schumacher (Evansville, Indiana) and guard/forward Nick Duncheon (Montgomery, Indiana) Pimble signed this week, while Schumacher and Duncheon signed with the Eagles during the fall.
At Dayton, Plummer helped the Flyers to a 19-12 overall record in 2006-07. He averaged 8.2 points and 4.8 rebounds per game in 28 games off the bench, while posting a season-high 20 points against Temple University and 11 rebounds against Miami University.
In his three-year career at Dayton, Plummer has averaged 9.1 points and 5.3 rebounds per game in 88 appearances for the Flyers. He posted a career-high as a freshman with 24 points against LaSalle University and as a sophomore with 13 rebounds against St. Louis University.
Plummer played for Hargrave Military Academy prior to playing for Dayton. He helped lead Hargrave to the 2004 prep school national championship, while averaging 22.8 points and 9.6 rebounds per game.
"Norman will make an immediate impact on the inside," said Head Coach Rick Herdes. "He can play facing the basket and can go in and out. Norman is a terrific rebounder and will fill a large need for us on the boards."
