Stoll joins the USI men's basketball team
New Eagle trades baseball field for basketball court

EVANSVILLE, Ind. The University of Southern Indiana men's basketball team announced the transfer of six-foot-four forward Isaac Stoll (Washington, Indiana) for the 2008-09 season. Stoll, who will have two years of eligibility remaining, becomes the 10th player to sign or commit to USI and Head Coach Rick Herdes this year.

Stoll transfers to USI from Southeast Missouri State University and will trade the baseball field for the basketball court. The right-handed pitcher was on the Redhawk staff in 2007, after spending one season on the mound and in the infield at Vincennes University in 2006. He did not play for SEMO in 2008.

Prior to beginning his collegiate athletic career in baseball, Stoll was a major contributor to the Washington High School (Washington, Indiana) boys basketball team's run to an IHSAA class 3A state championship in 2005. He averaged 11.1 points and 7.9 rebounds per game during the championship season, including a 16-point performance in the title game.

Stoll was honored after his senior season by being named honorable mention All-State and All-Big Eight Conference. He also was named All-Big Eight as a junior after averaging 10.9 points and 7.2 rebounds per contest in 2003-04.

"Isaac adds depth at the two and three-man positions with toughness and a winning attitude," said Herdes. "He will remind USI fans of Geoff Van Winkle in his style of play and his ability to shoot from three-point range. Isaac was a part of Dave Omer's winning tradition at Washington, culminating in the state championship when he was a senior."

Stoll joins a recruiting class that includes guards Jared Gray (Newburgh, Indiana), Brandon Hogg (Edwardsville, Illinois), Marvin Gray (Bahamas), Kevin Gant (Indianapolis, Indiana), Levi Holscher (Vincennes, Indiana); and forwards Brandon Carr (Baltimore, Maryland), Tyrone Bradshaw (Cincinnati, Ohio), Jeron Lewis (Ft. Wayne, Indiana), and Brandon Russ (Cincinnati, Ohio).
