Robinsonís triumphant return leads Eagles to 98-80 victory over Quincy

Senior center Kevin Robinson (Largo, Maryland) returned from a semester-long absence to lead the University of Southern Indiana menís basketball to a 98-80 victory over Quincy University this evening at the Physical Activities Center in Evansville, Indiana. Robinson scored a team-high 19 points, to lead six USI players that scored in double-figures, and had a game-high three blocks as the Screaming Eagles raised their record to 11-4 overall and 5-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
The Eagles used a 14-0 run and a 9-0 run to give them a comfortable 36-14 lead with 7:24 to play in the first period. USI shot 52.4 percent from the field and had 15 assists in the first stanza as it went into the locker room with a 52-38 halftime lead.
USI kept the intensity up in the second half as it shot 51.6 percent from the floor and dished out 13 more assists. The Eagles built the lead to 21 at one point in the second frame as they raced to their sixth consecutive victory.
The Eagles had strong performances from senior forwards Ronnie Griffin (Louisville, Kentucky) and Wes Attebury (Evansville, Indiana). The two contributed 16 points apiece while Griffin brought down a team-high eight rebounds and had two blocks.
Junior forward Diondíre Givens (Mt. Vernon, Indiana) added 12 points and four rebounds while fellow classmate David Ragland (Evansville, Indiana) tapped in with 10 points and a game-high six assists.
The Eagles will be back in action Saturday, January 12, as they take on Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the PAC.
