Griffin named GLVC Player of the Week
University of Southern Indiana senior forward/center Ronnie Griffin (Louisville, Kentucky) was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week after averaging a double-double in leading the Eagles past Northern Kentucky University and Bellarmine University. Griffin averaged 18.5 points and 11.5 rebounds to earn his first Player of the Week award this season.
The communications major began the week by scoring 18 points and grabbing a career-high 16 rebounds as USI defeated Northern Kentucky, 99-90, on Thursday night. He came back on Saturday to score 19 points on 7-11 shooting (.636) and grab seven more boards in just 21 minutes of action as USI defeated 116-94 triumph over Bellarmine.
Last week’s victories helped Griffin and the Eagles help improve their overall record to 15-5 overall and 9-4 in the GLVC. USI, which needs five wins to reach 20 for the tenth consecutive seasons, will resume action Thursday, January 31, by hosting Olivet Nazarene University in a 7:30 p.m. non-conference game.
