Southern Indiana (4-5-0, 3-3-0 GLVC): 0
SIU Edwardsville (9-2-0, 5-0-0 GLVC): 4

Box Score

The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team was shut out, 4-0, by #17 Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Sunday afternoon in torrential rains in St. Louis, Missouri. The match was played at Washington University's Francis Field due to surface problems at SIUE's Bob Guelker Field.

The USI-SIUE men's match, which was to follow the women's, was postponed due to the heavy downpours and will be rescheduled.

The Cougars scored a pair of goals in the first half and two more late in the second half for the victory. USI falls to 4-5-0 overall and 3-3-0 in the GLVC, while front-running SIUE goes to 9-2-0 overall, 5-0-0 GLVC.

The loss ended the Screaming Eagles three-matching winning streak in the GLVC.

The USI women's soccer team will resume action Wednesday when it travels to Kentucky Wesleyan College for a 3 p.m. match in Owensboro, Kentucky. Both USI team return to the friendly surroundings of Strassweg Field September 30 to host a GLVC doubleheader against the University of Indianapolis.
