USI women's soccer wins twice in England

EVANSVILLE, Ind. The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team kicked off the 2007 campaign by becoming the first Screaming Eagle team to go to Europe and post a pair of exhibition match victories.

After dropping a 3-0 decision to Millwall to start its tour of England, the Eagles posted USI's first oversea victory by coming from behind to defeat Enfield, 3-1. USI senior forward Katie Grossman (Evansville, Indiana) scored the game-winner after sophomore forward Rachel Caksackkar (Jasper, Indiana) tied the score, 1-1, by recording USI's first goal abroad.

The Eagles sealed the 3-1 victory on a goal by sophomore midfielder Kara Georgeff (Highland, Indiana).

USI finished its England exhibition tour by shutting-out Cambridge, 4-0. Eagles' senior defender Mallory Minor (Evansville, Indiana) scored twice, while sophomore midfielder Shauni Boudia (Noblesville, Indiana) and Georgeff tallied one goal each to round out the scoring.

The Eagles open the 2007 regular season on the road at Saginaw Valley State University in Saginaw, Michigan. USI opens the home half of the schedule at Strassweg Field September 14 when it hosts Saint Joseph's College.
