Academic Skills

We offer several academic support structures to help students achieve their educational goals during their time at USI.

COVID 19 Update: Since USI classes are being delivered online or through another alternative delivery method for the remainder of the Spring 2020 semester, all academic support services in Academic Skills (tutoring, academic coaching, and supplemental instruction) will also be delivered via remote, online sessions. There will be no drop-in, in-person tutoring or supplemental instruction sessions on campus during this time. Please see the Tutoring and Supplemental Instruction pages for specific information.

Our Free Academic Support includes:

A relaxing, friendly, non-judgmental environment that offers:

Academic Coaching & Study Skills Assistance to help under-prepared students to advance their skills to university level

Collaboration with other departmental staff and faculty to develop programs aimed to empower students for future success such as:

General Studies courses (GENS) focused on developing students academically to the university level

We also supervise the Placement testing of students to determine the readiness of incoming students for university level coursework.
