Joining a fraternity or sorority is a life-long commitment to fraternal values of leadership. IFC fraternities and Panhellenic sororities select their members through a recruitment process, often referred to as “formal recruitment.” The IFC and Panhellenic organizations at the University of Southern Indiana have both formal and informal recruitment processes. Formal recruitment for fraternities and sororities are held during the fall semester with all chapters while informal recruitment occurs during the spring semester (some chapters may choose not to participate).

NPHC/NALFO fraternities and sororities select their members through a process known as intake. Each chapter is responsible for when and how intake will occur and can occur anytime throughout the year.
