James Sanders Gallery Fellowship

A one-year fellowship to support one or more students interested in exhibition design, publicity, curation, and management at an art gallery through supervised applied training at the Kenneth P. McCutchan Art Center / Palmina F. and Stephen S. Pace Galleries on the USI campus and the New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art, located in historic new Harmony, Indiana. 2 to 3 Fellowships may be awarded each year.

The application for the 2017-2018 James Sanders Gallery Fellowship is not yet available.

Incoming Freshman Art Scholarships

Incoming USI freshman art or art education majors who are residents of Indiana or qualify for the IN-KY Reciprocal Tuition Program, and who submit a completed application by the first Friday in February are eligible for these scholarships.

Efroymson Bridge Year Fellowship

USI studio art or design majors who will graduate in the fall or have recently graduated (within the last three years) in studio art, design emphases (graphic design, interactive media, or illustration) or photography are eligible to apply. The fellowship will provide a qualified art graduate a post-undergraduate year to significantly expan his or her artistic vision, to enhance his or her portfolio and to gain maturity as an artist or designer. Fellowship guidelines and the application form are available here and in the USI Art and Design Department front office.

Criteria: Number and amount of awards varies. For recipients whose art has been judged and deemed worthy of a scholarship at the Student Art Show. May not be awarded to a graduating senior.

Criteria: Award to an incoming freshman who is a graduate of North Posey High School with a minimum GPA of 3.25 who is majoring in art or theatre. Preference should be given to an art major. Automatically renewable with 3.25 GPA. May not be awarded to a graduating senior. Recipient must be enrolled during the coming academic year in order to receive this scholarship.

Criteria: Scholarship for the arts. Preference to art, music or theatre students. May also be awarded to a creative writing or art history student. May not be awarded to a graduating senior. Recipient must be enrolled during the current academic year in order to receive this scholarship. Renewable with a 2.5 GPA.
Dr. Salvatore F. and Rosamond L. Mirabella Achievement Award

Criteria: The graduating senior demonstrating excellence in English, French, Spanish, history, anthropology or the fine and performing arts. Selection to be made by representatives of each above-named academic area, preferably the department chairs, with the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts as chair. Not renewable. May not be awarded to a graduating senior.

Criteria: Award to graduating seniors to mark their exceptional successes in the USI Art program. A portfolio, a letter of application and an artist/design statement will be required from each applicant. A letter of support from a faculty member must also accompany the application.

Criteria: Number and amount of awards varies. For art-related national or international travel for art majors. May not be awarded to a graduating senior. Recipient must be enrolled during the upcoming academic year in order to receive this scholarship. Not renewable, but can be re-awarded.
Ellinor Hanger Goldman Memorial Art Scholarship

Criteria: U.S. citizens who are undergraduates majoring in art at USI with a preference given to students who have an interest or experience in painting. Recipient must be in good academic standing and maintain a 3.0 GPA when scholarship is awarded and received. Students classified as junior status - application shall be made during sophomore year of study. Applicants must submit a sample of their art work to selection committee for consideration. Not renewable.

John W. McNaughton Award for Excellence in Woodworking

Criteria: Award to a junior or senior art major (concentrating in woodworking) who excels in woodworking and has potential to attend graduate school or to develop a career as a woodworker. Not renewable, but it may be re-awarded to same recipient. May not be awarded to a graduating senior.

Criteria: Awarded each year to an incoming freshman planning to major in art, English, history, philosophy, theatre, or world language with minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrated financial need. See current brochure. Automatically renewable if recipient still meets criteria. Selected by Society for Arts & Humanities. May not be awarded to a graduating senior. Recipient must be enrolled during the upcoming academic year in order to receive this scholarship. Student Financial Assistance must validate need.
Siegfried R. and Carolyn W. Weng Art Scholarship

Criteria: Award to a U.S. citizen who is a full-time art major and has a particular interest in studio art. Student must be a junior in good academic standing and maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher when scholarship is awarded and received. Student will receive scholarship during senior year. Not renewable.

Criteria: Award to an incoming art or theatre major or student involved in music program at USI with a high school GPA of 2.5 or better and SAT score of 1500 (or ACT score of 21) or higher. Renewable for an additional 3 years with a 2.5 or higher GPA. May not be awarded to a graduating senior. Recipient must be enrolled during the upcoming academic year in order to receive this scholarship.
