Learning Science by Doing Science
The Biology Department at USI prides itself on close interaction between students and faculty; a commitment to student growth; and a philosophy that students learn science best by direct involvement through experimentation, research, and field work.
Students are provided opportunities to complete research projects and encouraged to present their findings at the local, regional, and national level.
A Collaborative Effort
Students work directly with faculty to plan a course of study tailored to meet their personal interests incorporating the latest technology and state-of-the-art equipment.
The biology faculty is accessible through coursework, club settings, and activities, and represents a broad range of backgrounds including behavioral ecology, botany, entomology, evolution, genetics, molecular biology, mycology, physiology, toxicology, and virology.
