Students Performing Invasive Procedures on Other Students

Invasive procedures such as but not limited to intravenous starts, obtaining blood for arterial blood gases, and nasogastric tube insertion will not be performed/practiced by students on other students. The exception to this policy is if the educational program has specific state or national requirements/competencies or the invasive procedure must be demonstrated by students as an expectation of program accreditation.

A student who performs an invasive procedure on another student without authorization will be subject to the polices outlined in the University’s Students Rights and Responsibilities.
