New certificate in project management offered

In collaboration with Project Management Institute (PMI), Southwestern Indiana Chapter, USI's Division of Outreach and Engagement will offer a new Certificate in Project Management program this fall. Individuals who complete the certificate will learn about the basics and best practices of project management.

The certificate program consists of 12 sessions beginning on Tuesday, September 10 from 6 to 9 p.m. at USI. Sessions will continue on Tuesdays through December 3. An accelerated format also is available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on five Wednesdays beginning October 2 at Innovation Pointe in downtown Evansville.

Professionals in the fields of business and financial management, engineering, construction, energy and power, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, human resources, procurement, information technology, manufacturing, logistics, research and development, telecommunications, education, and more are encouraged to participate.

Courses in the program include History and Overview of Project Management, Project Management Framework, Project Integration Management, Project Scope Management, Project Time Management, Project Cost Management, Project Quality Management, Project Human Resource Management, Project Communications Management, Project Risk Management, Project Procurement Management, and Project Stakeholder Management. "If you have - or plan to have - a career in today's workplace, you'll be expected to understand, communicate with, initiate, manage, or participate in project teams, so you need to understand the principles of project management," said Dr. Stephanie Brown, vice president of professional development at PMI Southwestern Indiana Chapter.

A discounted registration rate of $1,188 is available to individuals who wish to register for all 12 courses through September 3 and through September 19 when registering for all courses in the accelerated format. Single course registration is $119 and single day registration in the accelerated format is $269.
