Casey Pycior earned his Ph.D. in Creative Writing from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He also holds graduate degrees from Wichita State University (MFA in Fiction Writing) and the University of Missouri-Kansas City (MA in American Literature). Pycior's debut short story collection, The Spoils, was published in 2017 with Switchgrass Books / NIU Press. His writing has appeared in Crab Orchard Review, Beloit Fiction Journal, Harpur Palate, The Laurel Review, Iron Horse Literary Review, and South Dakota Review, among many other places. He serves as the Fiction Editor of the Southern Indiana Review and host of SIR Studios: Inside the Issue, and he co-coordinates the Southern Indiana Reading Series with Prof. Rosalie Moffett. Beginning in the summer of 2026, he will be coordinating the New Harmony Book Award & Residency.
At USI he primarily teaches Creative Writing and Literary Editing and Publishing classes: ENG 302: Creative Writing, ENG 304: Fiction Workshop, ENG 305: Creative NonFiction Workshop, and ENG 402: Advanced Workshop, and ENG 223: Introduction to Literary Editing and Publishing.
