Bio

Dr. Oana Armeanu earned her Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She teaches comparative politics, international relations, and the politics of Europe, Russia, the Middle East, and China. Her research focuses on political parties, elections, voting behavior, social inequality, and pension reform in Central and Eastern Europe.

She has published articles and book chapters in Government and Opposition, Europe-Asia Studies, Studia Politica, and European Yearbook of Minority Issues. Her publications include the book The Politics of Pension Reform in Central and Eastern Europe. Political Parties, Coalitions, and Policies (Palgrave-Macmillan). In her most recent work, she examines how the erosion of cultural identities and political ideologies contributes to the rise of populist radical right parties.
