Paul Weimer is an Associate Professor of Theatre, Chair of the Phillip H. Hagemann Performing Arts Department and resident scenic designer at USI. He earned his bachelor's degree from Ohio Northern University and his MFA from the University of Wisconsin/Madison. Weimer spent many years in New York City working as an associate scenic designer on numerous Broadway shows and national tours, including The Phantom of the Opera, Spamalot, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Shrek, Ghost, Matilda & The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, working with directors such as Harold Prince, George C. Wolfe and Mike Nichols. He joined the USI faculty in Fall 2015 and teaches a variety of theatre courses, including scene design, period styles for the theatre, painting and stage properties, stage management and several introductory theatre classes. He is a member of United Scenic Artists Local 829 and served on the negotiating committee for the union’s Broadway contract and on the Scenic Design Entrance Exam committee.
