Staff Council represents the non-exempt staff members of the University of Southern Indiana. Its purpose is to contribute to the progress of the university by promoting a positive work environment and a healthy work/life balance, encouraging staff engagement in university matters, and furthering the mission of USI.
The Council shall serve in an advisory capacity to the administration. All matters appropriate for action shall be submitted in writing to the Staff Council. Any current university employee may submit a proposal to the Council for consideration.
The USI administration approved the formation of a staff council in the fall of 1989. An Ad Hoc committee was formed to develop a mission statement and a set of bylaws. The first official meeting was held in July 1990.
Staff Council is an elected group of 20 employees who represent the support staff of USI. The Council has an Executive Committee consisting of a Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, and Immediate Past Chair. The Council also has the following two standing committees: The Economic Benefits and Communications Committee & The Employee Relations Committee
