Teacher License Addition for English Learners Certificate Overview

The Teacher License Addition for English Learners certificate allows candidates to add an English Learners Certificate to their current license and includes coursework in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), Language Assessment, Cultural Awareness Training, Second Language Acquisition and a supervised practicum field experience in the teacher candidate’s school of employment.

  • Credit hours earned for a certificate may be applied toward another degree program.
  • Coursework taken more than 7 years before the certificate is awarded may not be applied toward certificate requirements.
  • Students earning a graduate certificate are not eligible to participate in commencement exercises, but the credential will be added to their official transcript record.

To apply to the University of Southern Indiana (USI) for undergraduate enrollment:

  • Complete the online application for admission
  • Pay the $40 application fee
  • Submit official transcripts from all high schools and colleges you've attended

Once USI has processed your application, transcript(s) and scores (if needed), a decision will be made by Undergraduate Admissions and you will receive a notification.

Upon acceptance to USI, you'll receive detailed information about next steps, including orientation, registration and housing.
