Reflecting the global reach and historical importance of the motion picture industry’s cultural impact since its inception, the USI Film Concentration is offered by the Communications Department in collaboration with multiple disciplines throughout the College of Liberal Arts and the university. This concentration primarily focuses on Film History and Film Analysis – examining the crucial intersection of art and entertainment – as well as theoretical foundations that situate the film industry as an economic, industrial, social, and cultural institution. The program is intended to expand each student’s knowledge and appreciation of Film, equipping you with the ability to move beyond passive observation into deeper states of examination within the form, as well as the ability to articulate your distinct perspective about the medium through written and verbal expression.
Additional credit hours could indicate a major, second minor, or certificate. A minimum of 120 credit hours is required to graduate.

Multiple present and future media outlets are typically used as a platform for your analysis at the local, regional, national, and global levels.
