Bio

I have been a registered nurse since 1999. My degree in nursing has allowed me to explore the various roles of the professional nurse: bedside nurse, office nurse, case management, nursing education, and nursing educational leadership. Of all the roles I have had, my passion lies in working with nursing students. I have been a nurse educator since 2007 working with associate degree (RN) and licensed practical nursing (LPN) students. In August of 2020, I joined the University of Southern Indiana as an Assistant Professor. I currently work with BSN, RN-BSN, MSN, and DNP students.

  • My research focus is centered upon student success, whether it be by exploring teaching strategies to support the growth of a novice student's confidence level, growth mindset, identifying one's level of grit and evaluating it relationship to program attrition, retention, and pass rates, or helping students to develop their resilience.
