Mr. Kyle B. Tharp

Professor Kyle Tharp is a Communications Scholar, Technology Wizard, Distance Runner, Coffee Snob, and Colossal Nerd. In addition to earning his Masters in Communications from USI, he holds professional certifications from Meta, Google, Google Cloud, Google Analytics, IBM Cybersecurity, Decrypt, Unity, and SAP. 

In undergraduate, Kyle was president of USI's student communications organization that won national awards for recruitment and community service. Kyle was also awarded Top Paper in the Student Division by the National Communication Association for his work on Cognitive Learning and Verbal Aggression.

When he isn't teaching courses or solving campus technology problems, he can be found enjoying a delicious cup of black coffee on the patios of local coffee shops, crushing a plate full of sushi rolls, or running at the RFW and on the Burdette Trail. His unofficial policy is that if you can keep up, you can ask whatever questions you want about your class.

He also serves as the IT Business Manager for the campus, dealing with Enterprise Licensing and IT Procurement. Starting in the fall of 2024, he also joins the Doctorate in Educational Leadership Program. His Dissertation is broadly centered on student success in higher education.
